We’re going big this year.

Young adult survivors face unique challenges. Cancer may have spared their lives, but the scars left behind are often more severe than the fight itself. That’s why Project Koru is dedicated to survivorship. With more than 9 years of programming and 12 years of addressing the needs of young adult cancer survivors and fighters, Project Koru has reached a programmatic need for growth. Support our mission by helping us fundraise!

This kind of contribution makes the biggest impact.

TIME TO HULK UP

Kiteboard 4 Cancer is the annual fundraising event that makes Project Koru programs possible. Kiteboarders and spectators alike take to the Columbia Gorge to participate in the largest amateur kiteboarding event in North America. The 6-hour Kite Derby is designed to embody the battle that someone facing cancer endures every day though the power of the wind and water.

All proceeds directly benefit young cancer survivors seeking growth after cancer.

WHY "HARNESS YOUR HULK?"

The story of Xan.

Among top fundraisers from years past is Camp Koru alumnus Xan Harwood-Karlik, better known by his power name “Hulk.”

As a hang glider, CrossFitter, former collegiate rower, and now kiteboarder, Hulk’s strength has continuously surprised doctors throughout surgery, radiation, and multiple rounds of chemotherapy. Hulk has inspired fellow cancer survivors to push boundaries and refuses to let cancer stop him from living life to the fullest.

This year, we encourage kiteboarders and spectators alike to #HarnessYourHulk.
